Privacy Policy

Last updated 26 October 2026

Lately Me is a private diary. It is built so that what you write stays on your phone. This policy explains, plainly, what the app keeps, where, and the one case in which anything leaves your device.

What stays on your phone

Everything you put in the diary is stored only on your device: your writing and its formatting, the mood and icon of each day, the photos you attach, the face you choose, and your settings.

There is no account and no sign-in. We run no servers for your diary, and we cannot see, read or recover anything you write.

Photos stay in your photo library. The app keeps a reference to the pictures you pick so it can show them on that day; it does not upload or copy them anywhere.

What we do not do

No analytics, no advertising and no tracking. The app does not follow what you do in it or across other apps and websites.

Your diary is never sold, shared or used to train anything.

Purchases

If you buy Pro, the payment is made with your Apple ID and handled entirely by Apple. We never see your name, card or Apple ID.

To confirm a purchase, the app uses RevenueCat, a subscription service. It receives an anonymous app identifier, the purchase receipt from Apple, and basic app and device details (such as the app version and your country), and tells the app whether Pro is active. It receives nothing from your diary. RevenueCat’s own privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.

Permissions the app asks for

Photos: only to let you add pictures to a day, or put Adventurers on one, and only the ones you choose. Faces in a photo are found on your phone, by a face finder the app downloads from Google the first time it is used; the photo itself is not uploaded or kept.

Face ID or passcode: only if you turn on the journal lock. The check is done by your phone; the app never sees your face, fingerprint or passcode.

Notifications: only if you turn on the daily reminder. It is scheduled on your phone and sent by it, not by us.

Sharing and exporting

Adventurer photos are made on your phone, and leave it only when you send one yourself, to the app you choose.

Back up in Profile saves every memory as a file, handed to the share sheet for you to save where you choose (Files, iCloud Drive, AirDrop). Every month or so, Today reminds you to; nothing is backed up without you.

Keeping and deleting your data

Your diary stays until you delete it. "Start over" in Profile erases every memory and setting from the device at once; deleting the app does the same.

Because nothing is kept anywhere else, a lost phone or a deleted app cannot be restored by us. Export your memories from Profile if you want a copy.

Children

Lately Me does not collect personal information from anyone, children included. What a child writes stays on their device, as for everyone.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever starts to handle your data differently, this policy will be updated first and the date above will change.

This website

This website, latelyme.app, uses Cosmic Monkey analytics to count its visits and see which pages are read. That applies to this website only: the Lately Me app uses no analytics, and nothing you write in it leaves your phone.
